Mountain bike on the island of ElbaItinerary: Redinoce - Monte Perone - Redinoce
Type of road: 30% on asphalt; 70% on dirt road.

Difficulty: very difficult.
Due to the type of trails, you have to be quiet well trained for this excursion. 200 meters after the way down to the Paolina beach, on the road from Procchio to Marciana Marina, you have to take to the left, direction Redinoce. First you pass a few villas, then you reach the localities of Campobagnolo and Lavacchio. Shortly after the restaurant 'da Luigi', you have to take on the left, the trail nr. 43.This trail leads trough a beautiful chestnut forest, always uphill, very technical, with pieces you have to walk.
At the end of this trail you get on an asphalt road that connects Poggio with Sant'Ilario, and you have to turn left. Going uphill you will reach the Monte Perone panoramic road. From here you can admire the coast line of Elba that goes from Marina di Campo until the Costa dei Gabbiani.
From the monte Perone it goes downhill (very technical), over the road nr. 5, along Fosso Campotondo, until Sant'Ilario. There you reach a crossing: on the left you find a dirt road, and after 1,5 km a road going downhill and leading directly back to Redinoce.
